During the 8th of October and the 5th of November, ACT for conflict resolution held a training course in Ramallah, to build the capacities of youth from several West Bank governorates on deep analysis of conversing disputes and mediation as means of conflict resolution. The training course targeted 22 trainees aiming to provide them with required personal skills to act as mediators.

The training course was held for 5 days, through which participants gained different skills related to mediation including the concept of “Dispute”, types of disputes, defining disputes according to its type and the ability to use it in the right context. This was followed by studying the community and cultural structure to enable trainees from addressing and analyzing disputes and discover the problem from its roots.

The training also shed light on violence and its types and means of dealing with it, as well as how to change violence and eliminate it. The training ended with a specialized and detailed training on mediation and consolidating its concept among trainees, introducing types of mediation and the mechanism of mediator’s work and his/her ability to deal with different situations.

It is worth noting that the training course falls within the "Young Mediators" project, funded by the Swiss Representative Office - Palestine, which aims to empower young leaders and enhance their abilities and skills to act as mediators at the level of public and political conflicts.
