ACT and the Regional Network for Reconciliation and Forgiveness Continue Their Joint Efforts to Dismantle Hate Speech in the Arab Region
On July 29, 2025, the first joint session on dismantling hate speech was held as part of the collaboration between ACT and the Regional Network for Reconciliation and Forgiveness in the Arab Region. The session witnessed the active participation of 39 individuals representing local civil society organizations, academic experts, and religious leaders from across the Arab world, providing a rich platform for in-depth discussion and exchange.
The session featured a comprehensive presentation of the outcomes from the four previous workshops held in five countries: Syria, Iraq, Palestine, Yemen, and Libya. These workshops produced insightful analyses and documented field-based testimonies that reflect the realities of hate speech in each context. The session also showcased the findings and recommendations of local working groups that monitored hate narratives and proposed actionable solutions.
Building on the success of this session, preparations are now underway for a new series of five focused sessions to be held throughout August 2025, beginning on August 5. These upcoming discussions will explore new themes aimed at promoting positive discourse, creating safe spaces for dialogue, and developing practical mechanisms to counter incitement and hate speech both online and offline.
Stay tuned for details on the upcoming sessions—and join us in fostering a more inclusive and human-centered discourse that strengthens reconciliation and lays the foundation for sustainable peace in the region.
