ACT for Conflict Resolution held its first awareness-raising meeting to promote the role of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in the city of Jerusalem, hosted by the Silwan Families Forum, in coordination with the Silwan Institutions Coalition. The meeting was attended by representatives of Silwan families, including the forum's secretary, Mr. Ali Al-Aour, members of the forum's board of directors, and the head of the Silwan Institutions Coalition, Mr. Fawzi Shaaban.
Mr. Mohammad Hadiyah, an expert in conflict resolution, represented ACT for Conflict Resolution and highlighted the importance of mediation and arbitration in resolving disputes and the need to inform men of reform and tribes about them, especially as they form the main reference in resolving disputes in the town of Silwan. For their part, the forum's representatives pointed to the reform work they are doing in Silwan and the existence of a tribal committee to resolve disputes affiliated with the forum, in addition to a committee for Sharia arbitration. The attendees agreed on the importance of holding specialized meetings to promote the role of mediation as a friendly way to resolve disputes.
It is worth noting that ACT for Conflict Resolution will hold a series of awareness-raising meetings in different areas of Jerusalem within the framework of the project to enhance the role of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in the city of Jerusalem, implemented with the support of the Sawasiya program.
