ACT Holds An awareness workshop was held at Dar Al-Aytam Islamic School - the Old City - Jerusalem
29 September 2022

On Thursday, 29 February 2022. An awareness workshop was held at Dar Al-Aytam Islamic School - the Old City - Jerusalem, for eleventh grade students. Which was given by Mr. Muhammad Abu Sneina.

The beginning of the workshop was to introduce the Islamic Waqf “endowments”

What is meant by the Islamic Waqf, that is, the property is protected and is not confiscated by the occupation)

Property Types:

1- Private property (such as real estate) and these properties are personal and registered in the Tapu (Land Department)

What is meant is that the person owns the property and has the right to dispose of it by buying or selling it.

While in the Waqf “endowment” (the person does not own the property) it is owned by the endowment and the person rents it from the endowment and it is called (vacant wages). And the property remains forever an Islamic Waqf.

The purpose of the Waqf is:

It is a way to protect real estate properties

the good deeds

The Waqf is very important in the matter of property allocation

2- public property.

Waqf “endowment” types:

Religious Waqf (either Islamic or Christian)

Atomic (family) Waqf, which means that a person has a house, land or real estate, and in the event that the house is rented, part of the rent is to the heirs, and the other part is its proceeds for charitable work.

This property is registered with the Islamic Waqf Department and the right to dispose of it is through the Waqf Department only, and not through the family.

Waqf “Endowment” conditions:

That the person is the owner of the house or property and goes to the Endowment Department and registers it (as a waqf) and registers it on the basis that the proceeds from the rent of this endowment go to my male children without females, for example..or to all of my children..or to my male grandchildren without the females..and so on..

If the endowment wants to sell the property, it must go to the Sharia court in Jordan. Meaning, it is not an easy decision, and it is very complicated.

It is the responsibility of the endowment to restore the property and preserve the materiality resulting from the endowment.

Waqf “Endowment” custodian: the person who follows up on everything related to the endowment, and he acts as the director of the endowment

Question: Can I cancel the Waqf after the property has been suspended?

Answer: I can only cancel the endowment with conditions.
