Workshop on Preserving The Crime Scene and Strengthening Criminal Justice with Palestine Police and - Jericho 2023

ACT-Conflict Resolution held two workshops in partnership with the police on Tuesday the 14th of March, 2023, titled “The Preservation of the Crime Scene and Measures to be Taken by the First Respondent (the first to witness the crime)”. This event took place in the Governorate Hall in Jericho. The first workshop targeted security services, while the second workshop targeted the police force.

Both workshops included 3 axes. The first axis dealt with the definition of crime, the role of the first respondent at the crime scene, and the need to document all the measures taken and the changes that occur.

As for the second axis, it discussed cybercrime and the digital crime scene. The concept of cybercrime, its characteristics, advantages, and the motives behind these crimes were given definitions. The duty of the authorities responsible for tracking criminals and bringing forth justice were identified, as well as tips and guidelines were given to avoid these types of crimes.

For the third axis, however, identified the Palestinian criminal laboratory, its role with dealing with the restrictions it receives from the police, the security services, the public prosecution, the judicial body, and the specialists through examining, analyzing and issuing reports in accordance to their rules.

The two workshops ended with participant discussion, where the attendees were given the opportunity to ask questions and create an elaborative discussion. This discussion showed the participants’ high interest in the details of crime scenes, how to deal with the restrictions and the means of contacting the responsible authorities
