ACT Conflict Resolution highlights in its ninth episode of Mediation Forum the topic "Mediation Between Law and Practice in Lebanese Reality."

ACT Conflict Resolution Mediation Forum hosted on Wednesday, 4/01/2023, in its ninth virtual meeting, through the application of Zoom, Adcovate Mona Hanna of Lebanon at a virutal meeting entitled "Mediation between Law and Application in Lebanese Reality", attended by 59 participants from Palestine and various Arab States, moderated by Professor Faten Ben-Amin of Tunisia. She is the founder and director of the Lebanese Mediation and Conciliation Center (LAMAC). Mona is an advanced trainer in neuro-linguistic programming. Lecturer at more than one university at the National Institute of Administration and several trade unions and public institutions. Registered mediator and approved by the Federal Mediation Commission of Belgium. Appeal lawyer, founder and director of Hanna Mediation and Administrative and Business Consulting Office.

Professor Mona Hanna presented the Lebanese Mediation Law by addressing the first law regulating mediation in Lebanon, Act No. 82 of 10/10/2018, which was published in the Official Newspaper No. 45 of 18/10/2018. As well as the new law  No. 286 passed on 14/04/2022, which is considered the fastest legislation in the Lebanese State's legal history governing mediation under the Convention.

Mona has addressed the problems encountered by the parties so that this law can see the light of day and the importance of the law, which, on one hand, lies in strengthening the function of mediation, as being one of the most important alternative means of resolving conflicts and promoting social peace.
Lebanon's experience with the adoption of the legislative framework for mediation and the reasons for this was also raised on the date of the promulgation of the Law on Judicial Mediation.

Several points related to the extent to which the adoption of mediation at the application level occurred after the promulgation of the Law on Judicial Mediation in Lebanon had its advantages in the area of intervention by the mediator and mandatory mediation agreement and explained the difference between judicial mediation and standard mediation.

After Mona's presentation, there was discussion among participants and several questions were raised, all of which centred on the relationship between the work of the mediator and the negotiator, as well as the points of difference and meeting between them.

It should be noted that ACT will organize a monthly meeting every Wednesday seeking through the forum to highlight mediation as an ideal way to avoid and resolve disputes, reduce their exacerbation and reduce the judicial burden in courts.
